Songhees Event Centre believes in creating a connection between the natural food from our land, the farmers that nourish and harvest it, and ultimately, the people who enjoy it. This is based on the traditions of Lekwungen People and their connection to the land. We demonstrate this by utilizing local seasonal goods, harvesting vegetables and herbs from our roof top garden as well as take part in programs such as ocean wise – a program where seafood is caught in a way that ensures the long-term health and stability of that species, as well as the greater marine ecosystem. We also have an active composting system at the centre which we hope to grow even more over the coming years.

In addition to our sourcing of product, the Songhees Event Centre building was built and is maintained LEED Silver building of 55,000 sq.ft. with a Geo Thermal Heating plant and in floor radiant heat. This is combined with a passive solar design that allows the winter sun light to reach into all of the offices warming all the offices. Our roof top solar array provides all our hot water needs.
