Chef David Roger began his culinary career more than 30 years ago in Vancouver, B.C and returned to Victoria in 2004 to open the Victoria Marriott Inner Harbour Hotel. He apprenticed at the renowned five-star Pan Pacific Hotel’s award-winning Five Sails Dining Room, working with European Chefs dedicated to perfection in all aspects of dining. Gary Henry

Sous Chef

Gary is one of the original members of the Songhees Catering Team and his passion for cooking is obvious to anyone who meets him. Bringing traditional indigenous cuisine to the forefront of Victoria by creating a fusion of new and old.

A member of the Pauquachin band (located in the Saanich Inlet basin on Southern Vancouver Island, at Coles Bay), Gary has always had a love of cooking and with over a decade of cooking experience, he brings a great wealth of knowledge to the team in his role as Sous Chef. But don’t worry, we don’t keep Gary all to ourselves, as lead for the Songhee’s Food Truck you are sure to see his smiling face around town.

Rachel Robinson

Pastry Chef

Originally from Tsimshian Okanagon, Hartley Bay, Rachel comes from a long career of cooking. Previously from the Malahat Chalet she brings with her a wealth of knowledge of traditional cooking and some new favourites including her 5th generation Bannock recipe.

Her role at Songhees has grown a great deal since she has started (one of the original team members), and now as Kitchen Supervisor you will find Rachel cooking for the events and the gallery café where she uses her knowledge and creativity to bring amazing dishes to the menu. She also runs many of our kitchen programs ensuring only the freshest and local products are used. Her passion for cooking and learning is undeniable and you can taste in the delicious food she cooks. Her creativity doesn’t stop at the kitchen, in her time away from work she loves to write, read and draw.

Catherine Davies

Sales and Events Manager

Living on Vancouver Island since the age of 10, Catherine boasts over two decades of customer service experience. Her planning and leadership skills in addition to her amazing attention to detail ensure that events and meetings go smoothly from start to finish. Catherine is adept at responding quickly to changes and always keeps an upbeat, can-do attitude.

Loretta Jones

Sales and Events Coordinator

Loretta, a Songhees Nation member, is one of the original Songhees team members. She has worked throughout the building in various roles and joins the catering team with her friendly and upbeat attitude as Sales & Events Coordinator.

She decided to follow her passion for working with people in the events office and is dedicated to growing strong relationships with clients and the team. Responsible for communicating the details out to our different teams and assisting clients with questions or changes – Loretta is there to help and always with a smile. And when she is not in the office you will find her spending time with her family and their 3 dogs!
